Five Little Piggies Went to Market Street…

We all know the story about the little piggies…you know, the one in which one little piggy ate roast beef, and one went “wee-wee-wee” all the way home. In that story one little piggy went to Market.  In the Emerald Island Casino version, five whole suckling pigs went to Market Street!  That’s right!

Pigs, in addition to being absolutely delicious, are iconic in art and literature.  They are portrayed in parables such as, “The Three Pigs”, the children’s show “Peppa the Pig” and the children’s poem “This Little Piggy”.

A pig, or a wild Boar, appears as one  of 12 animal images comprising the Chinese Zodiac.  In the United Kingdom they were common symbols on standards and in heraldry.

Pigs have an extremely well  developed sense of smell which allows them to hunt or root for food in the ground.  This trait has been capitalized upon and pigs are often used to hunt the delicacies known as truffles.
