When you think of arches you normally think of bridges, but many Cities around the World have built amazing arches to show their civic pride and define their identities. Some amazing structures that come to mind is the Gateway Arch in St Louis, the Arch De Triomphe in Paris and the Constantine Arch in Rome.
These civic arches aren’t just in major cities, many small towns in places like the Central Valley of California have arches that span city Streets. Lodi, Modesto and Fresno all have Arches. Reno’s arch proclaims it the “Biggest Little City in the World”!
Now, Henderson, Nevada has not one but two arches spanning Water Street welcoming Visitors to the Water Street District.
The first arch at the covered walkway connecting the City Hall complex with the City Parking Lot brands the Area as The Water Street District. Four foot high letters that spell out “Water Street District’ are illuminated and are color changing to highlight the season or events in the Downtown. You can bet when the Las Vegas Golden Knights open their practice arena and Team store on Water Street in 2020 that the sign will light-up in Golden Knight’s team colors!
The most recent Henderson Arch is at the entrance of Water Street from Lake Mead Parkway. This arch is over 40 feet wide and will also be illuminated.
