Treat Yourself to Scrumptious Eggs Benedict at the Emerald Island Grille!  Now Available Seven Days A Week!
When you think Sunday Brunch what comes to mind?  Ok, well, in addition to a spicy Bloody Mary?  How about Eggs Benedict!  You can enjoy both at the Emerald Island Grille!
Eggs Benedict is a luxurious breakfast treat that consists of two halves of a lightly toasted English muffin,

each of which is topped with Canadian bacon, a  perfectly poached egg and smothered in Hollandaise sauce.

As with many iconic dishes, conflict exists relating to the origins of Eggs Benedict.
Numerous stories suggest that the dish was first made in New York City sometime in the late 1800s.  One claims that a hungover retired stock broker named Lemuel Benedict asked for toast, poached eggs, bacon and a dish of hollandaise at the Waldorf Hotel.  The dish became popular, was named after him and then slightly tweaked into the form we know it in today.  Yet another story has the toothsome dish created at the famous New York Delmonico’s Steakhouse.
Two of the delicious ingredients of the traditional dish, Canadian bacon and Hollandaise sauce, are a little mysterious.  Canadian bacon (the food, not the comedy movie starring Alan Alda) is really just cured meat made from ham instead of pork belly.  Interestingly, in Canada it is called ‘back bacon’.
Hollandaise sauce is a buttery, opaque sauce that is beautiful soft yellow color.  It is an emulsion of egg yolks and melted butter which is delicately seasoned with lemon juice, salt, white pepper and cayenne pepper.
Many chefs have taken the basic combination of bread, poached eggs, a protein and Hollandaise sauce and developed tasty variations.  Our talented chefs at the Emerald Island Grille have their own unique twists on the original too!
At the Emerald Island Grille, Eggs Benedict has long been one of our guests’ brunch favorites. Three of the most popular are the traditional Eggs Benedict, our Crab Benedict and the tender and flavorful Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict.   In the Crab Benedict, the Canadian bacon is replaced by a mound of sweet crab.  Our Filet Mignon Benedict has two tender, mouthwatering filet medallions which are cooked to order and smothered in a tarragon Hollandaise sauce.
Now, by popular demand, you can enjoy Eggs Benedict at the Emerald Island Grille seven days a week!
What is your favorite twist on this popular breakfast treat?  We’d love to know and we always enjoy serving our guests great breakfasts at the Emerald Island Casino, Nevada’s Only All Penny Casino since 2003!
