Seven words. A simple sentence. But a sentence that means so many things at the Emerald Island Casino!
The Emerald Island is a family owned casino. Twin brothers Mike and Tm Brooks opened the casino in 2003 and have Nevada’s Only All Penny Casino into the Jewel of Henderson.
Guests truly feel that our team members are like family to them. Superior guest service and a genuine and heartfelt desire to make every visit to the Emerald Island Casino a special one is the core of our customer service.
But, this Valentine’s season it means a great love story and a tale about how our team members really are there for each other! And how a new Emerald Island family got its beginning!
Everyone knows Philip W. from the casino floor. Aside from his dry sense of humor and “can do” attitude, Phillip is hard to miss and harder to forget with his signature mustache! There is nothing sinister about it! It is charming and fits beautifully with his sense of whimsy! What many people do not know is that when Phillip joined the Emerald Island team he came on board in December of 2015 as a dishwasher, was promoted to security and then to a position as a Slot Ambassador. Most recently, he was raised to the position of Shift Manager!
Anastasia, who joined the Emerald Island Team in 2017, is a fixture in the Grille as a busser and is always happy to “go the extra mile to help people”. Anastasia is as quiet as Phil is gregarious, but both are incredibly warm and welcoming!
So now, the really fun part of the love story, on November 11, 2018, Philip with the help of his family, Anastasia’s family and the Emerald Island Casino family planned a wonderful surprise for Anastasia! He had their extended family gather together in the large booth in the back room of the Grille. While Anastasia was finishing her shift, he called her over to the microphone to please join him tableside. Not sure why everyone was there Anastasia turned to Philip and in front of family, guests and friends, Philip got down on one knee, declared to the world how much Anastasia meant to him, gave her a ring to celebrate their love and… popped the question!
And…she said “YES”!

Congratulations to Philip and Anastasia. What a wonderful surprise.. We really enjoy visiting with Philip and so happy to have heard about his most recent promotion. We see Anastasia mostly in the restaurant. She is quiet but a hard working individual. Our best to both of them.
